Founded in 1894, Concordia University-Nebraska is a leading private coeducational institution of higher learning, offering majors range from art to education, chemistry and theology, and many other disciplines in-between.

The University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of its North Central Association. The teacher education program is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration, accountancy, business communication, marketing, and management information systems and the Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and their minors and concentrations are accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). The music program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

Concordia is a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, one of the premier conferences in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

- Concordia University Nebraska is ranked 16th in the overall "America's Best Colleges" rankings in the Regional Colleges - Midwest category by US News (2011). It was one of 10 Midwest regional colleges and universities named to U.S. News 2011 "Great Schools, Great Prices" rankings, being the only Nebraska school in the category to be included.

- Concordia has earned the 15th spot nationally in a list of top baccalaureate colleges by the Washington Monthly.

Chadron State College is a four-year institutions within the Nebraska State College System.

Chadron Sate College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Nebraska State Department of Education. The Baccalaureate Social Work Program has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education since 1992. The Teacher Education program at Chadron State College is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The Department of Business and Economics has received accreditation from the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs in June 2000.

The National Association of Music Merchants has named Chadron State College as one of its 28 National Affiliation of Music Business Institutions.
